4 Metallic Outfits You Haven’t Worn—Yet

The holidays are the one time of year when you can wear sequins, glitter, and metallics with abandon — and actually get away with it. Of course, there's still the possibility of overdoing it and looking more like a Christmas tree ornament than a festive partygoer.
To help keep your outfit in check, we styled the season's usual suspects — think sequined pants and metallic skirts — into four festive looks that get into the spirit but aren't so holiday-specific that you can't wear them after January 1. Now, pass the eggnog, please.

The Sequined Pant
Emerald-sequined pants are always a risky item. But, teamed with a gray sweatshirt or some other unfussy top, they won't make you feel too out-there. Play up the outfit's casual qualities with a beanie and black flats.

The Pom-Pom Heel
This outfit's strength is in its color coordination. The mint-green dress and neon-purple heels maybe shouldn't work together, but they do.

The Metallic Coat
There's a metallic version of everything these days — coats, shoes, skirts, you name it. Since coats take up a sizable surface area on your body, wear one as your only glittery piece. A white, ruffle-hem blouse and black pants will only enhance your topper's appeal.

The Metallic Skirt
This ensemble is admittedly the most festive of the bunch, featuring both metallics and feathers. But, its subdued tones (i.e. all that black) keep all the elements under control.
