Why This Face Oil Should Be A Staple On Everyone’s Vanity

When we found out back in March that Sunday Riley's new Luna Sleeping Night Oil sold out instantly on Sephora's website upon launch, let's just say our interest was piqued. Now, before everyone (understandably) starts complaining, I'm just going to get this out in the open now: This oil ain't cheap. Its benefits come at a pretty steep price tag — one that I may have rolled my eyes at. But, hear me out before you start chastising (and, also keep in mind that Sephora has a fantastic return policy). Let's start with the benefits. The oil itself includes retinol, which helps fight the appearance of wrinkles, avocado-seed oil, which is rich in vitamins A through E, and what Into The Gloss has deemed the "ingredient of 2015," blue tansy, which is known for its anti-irritant abilities. I apply the oil on dry skin and right after toning, by adding 2-3 drops onto my fingertips and pressing it slightly into the skin to allow it to really sink in. The scent is somewhat grandma-like; one reviewer equated it to Vicks VapoRub. If you're sensitive to strong-smelling products, this bad boy might not be for you. But, the scent doesn't bother me too much, and at least it's due to the ingredients themselves rather than an artificial perfume. The tansy, according to a Sunday Riley representative, is even aromatherapeutic — it's said to reduce stress and tension. The most fascinating part? The oil itself is actually blue. The drops come out in a navy hue that, when spread out, turns into a cool, aqua color. But, you don't have to worry about looking like blueberry Violet from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory — if you do, you're probably using too much. The oil seeps into your face nicely, without feeling greasy or sticky, and it leaves you with a glowing complexion by morning. For someone who's not an oil person whatsoever, this product has officially made me a convert. No matter your skin woes — dry, oily, or acne-prone — this stuff suits everyone and will quickly become a staple on your vanity. Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Night Oil, $105, available at Sephora.
