Stylist Heidi Bivens Takes Us on a Whirlwind Tour of Her Five-Day Fashion Week

From fashion show to presentation to backstage prepping for the Built By Wendy show, our friend stylist Heidi Bivens barely had time to guzzle a coffee let alone document her high-styling pursuits in overdrive. But you know, we drive a hard bargain, and in the end, she turned over a fun and furious photo diary…thanks Heidi! We heart you!
Day One. 2/12.
"First day on the week and shows have started but I'm in studio styling my BFF, jewelry designer Anna Sheffield's press portraits for an upcoming secret project (TBA very soon!). The very talented Cass Bird shot the photos. Good crew. Fun times."
"Evening time, finished work and just make it to my friend Wendy Mullins show. She keeps topping herself every season. Wendy is what I call old school New York (for my generation). I remember when I first moved to the city and Judi Rosen and Wendy had a store in the East Village called Three Jills and a Jack. Not to date myself, but that was, like, before the internet! Here she is backstage at her show keeping it real."
"Ran over to meet my friend Susan Houser at Paul Rowlands photo show. I liked the photos a lot and will look out for more work by him!"
Day Two. 2/13.
From left: "In the morning I went to appointment to see new men's and women's collections from The Row. Very high end, beautiful fabrics, especially the knits. They've designed a must-have cashmere flannel plaid shirt that I want to live in. This leather jacket was a highlight as well." "Spent most of the day prepping for job I'm shooting all next week, so had to skip most shows, but wouldn't miss Victor Glemaud and Camilla Staerk's presentation. Here, Victor stands humbly in front of models fashioned in his idea of a modern man."
"My gorgeous lady friends Mariel Osborn, Frances Tulk-Hart, and Masha Orlov came by to congratulate Camilla and Victor."
Day Three. 2/14.
From left: Amazing shoes by Jonathan Kelsey backstage at Karen Walker." "At the Karen Walker show, I loved the "shattered-china-plate" print that decorated the invite and several looks that came down her runway. The show was a definite crowd pleaser and I can't wait to see everything up close at press previews."
"The Loden Dager show at the Seminary Rectory in midtown Manhattan. Paul Marlow, of Loden Dager also showed a collaboration with Ben Harper during NY fashion week under the label Propr. Here's Paul, deer in headlights after the finale of the Loden Dager show. Ben with his beautiful wife Laura came out to show their support."
Day Four. 2/15.
"Sunday morning and wouldn't miss Preen for the world. Definitely one of the best shows so far."
"Then Band of Outsiders presentation was a delight. If only Scott Sternberg would design me a gorgeous faux fur jacket like the real ones they showed!"
"Then onto Jeremy Laing show where I ran into the adorable Jane Herman and Florence Kane of Vogue."
"Evening hightlight was definitely Y3 show, when Yohji came out for finale with the kids in the show."
Day Five. 2/16.
"Bright and early, went by Topshop preview at the Gramercy Hotel and met Gordon Richardson, the head of Topman Design. The new suit line for men is unbelievable for the money. Can't wait for the SoHo store to open!"
"Topshop women's shoe line! look familiar? Affordable birdcage shoes!? Wearable Vuitton!?"
"Evening time, I barely made it to Marc Jacobs show. As highly reported, it began early this season, at 7:57 pm to be exact. After the show I went back stage to see my friend Asa Larsson, head of women's press, and I took a few shots of the model boards. So cool to see the looks documented this way. Show was super inspiring overall."
"Although there was still a few days left, Monday marked the end of NY shows for me—I was shooting beauty commercial for the rest of the week."
