Small Business Saturday: 4 Local Shops We’re Crushing

1
In a place like NYC, it's easy to get caught up in all the glitz and glam of Fifth Avenue (can you say Barneys, Saks, and Bloomingdale's?). But, it's the local mom-and-pop shops that make this city truly special, so it's our duty to show them love. Small Business Saturday is all about honoring the little guys, and, of course shopping. Since we consider ourselves the experts when it comes to finding the best of the best in fashion and home decor (and spending money!), we're sharing our current store obsessions with you. Hit up any of these local gems this weekend (and every weekend!), and we can guarantee you'll constantly be discovering new treasures.

Modern Anthology

Consider this your one-stop-shop for everything the stylish guy in your life needs. The owners, John and Becka, stock their shelves with vintage finds and up-and-coming designers, carrying everything from fashion, home decor, and personal care items.

68 Jay Street (at Water Street); Brooklyn; 718-858-8188.

Baggu

The R29 fave is throwing its very own SBS bash (from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.), inviting other local vendors to set up shop in the space. Look for Baggu's signature carryalls, plus Mast Brothers Chocolate, Drag City Records, textiles from New Friends, and classic films from Criterion.

242 Wythe Avenue (at North 3rd Street); 800-605-0759.

B_Space
Aussie transplants (and Aussie lovers!) will go crazy for this new concept store, which sells all kinds of Down Under-themed products. Look for gift-perfect goodies like jewelry, coffee and tea, and more. Awesome.

219 Mulberry Street (between Spring and Prince streets); 646-429-9898.

The Future Perfect

If there's anything we love to splurge on, it's home decor. We can't get enough of the mod furniture and design elements at this local shop (dangerously close to our office)— it has the perfect selection for treating yourself to a little something something, or gifting a loved one a big surprise.
55 Great Jones Street (between Bowery and Lafayette Street); 212-473-2500.
