Muhammad Ali Rendered In 1,300 Punching Bags Is Coming To L.A.

When you're dealing with a boxer who was, is, and will always be The Greatest, mere steel or stone just won't do. When crafting a temporary installation in tribute to Muhammad Ali, sculptor Michael Kalish went above and beyond the normal artistic mediums, choosing to hang 1,300 punching bags in careful arrangement to recreate the visage of the champion who floated like a butterfly and stung like a bee. It's an amazing match of subject and medium, and as rare as the Ali himself. Check it out for yourself in all three glorious dimensions when it's unveiled at the Nokia Plaza on March 25th. Until then, you'll have to settle for video and stills at Kalish's project website, www.realizeali.com. (Fubiz)
