Back in the day, you'd somberly sit at family dinner pushing your mac-n-cheese around with a fork, much to the dismay of pretty much every adult at the table. Well, turns out they were in the wrong all this time. Not only can fiddling with your grub become a legitimate gig (hello, Misterkrisp) but it can also turn you into an Internet art star, with veggies and fruits as your medium.
Just ask Laura Miller of Sidesaddle Kitchen, who can be credited for popularizing the hashtag #froobs (seriously, look it up) and finds new creative and endearing ways each day to use nature’s bounty as her outlet. You might remember our little shopping tour with her? Well, Miller’s spit-your-green-juice-out hilarious pics are some of our favorite things on our feed, and turns out, the fruition happened pretty organically (heh).
"I was in between jobs, staying with friends, had no money, and was pretty discouraged trying to figure out what my next move would be. Having an outlet — like making necklaces out of kale — took me out of my survival mode mindset and allowed me to be creative and weird," she says. After Laura's friends rallied for more, this offbeat hobby kind of became a full-blown thing. "I posted a few photos on Instagram and my friends thought they were funny, so I just kept doing them!" Take a look at the vivid snaps and we dare you not to get inspired — or hungry.
