After the magnificent Lindsay Lohan debacle over at Ungaro, the French design house has relied on designer Estrella Archs, who departed last month—but it was announced this morning that it has now taken on British designer Giles Deacon as its new creative director. A relative newbie, Deacon has been generating plenty of buzz for creating wacky/kitschy/adult-cartoon-y designs that—to be honest—we can't really see translating to fit into Ungaro's elegant aesthetic. But to Deacon's credit, his use of colors, prints, and feminine cuts might bring some much needed relevancy to super-old fashion house (and according to Fashionista, he'll bring on Love Magazine's Katie Grand as a consultant). To stay modest, Deacon plans on showing his first two Ungaro shows as presentations during this year's Paris Fashion Week. If it doesn't work out (but fingers crossed that it does—the poor house might not be able to survive any more shuffling!), may we suggest one of these five? (WWD)
