How To Host The Chillest Rooftop Pre-Game, Ever. Is It The Weekend Yet?

Donal Brophy's got his swagger down. A sleek look, an Irish drawl, those eyes. And still, he doesn't rest on his laurels when it comes to impressing guests. The acting-hopeful-turned-restauranteur (he's part owner of NYC hot spots like New British bar/restaurant/cafe Whitehall and Scottish gastropub Highlands) also knows how to throw one helluva party. Cue his latest rooftop fete, a before-dinner affair — at a secluded Nolita roofdeck, where the whiskey and gin flowed as freely as early evening conversation.
In true Highlands form, the simple fare was fresh 'n' organic, and the setting, taking inspiration from the Highland Fling (a famous Scottish dance, of course), "whimsical and eccentric"; Brophy always loves to bring a touch of the indoors out (not to mention his singular take on the Irish aesthetic) and the tartan-clad apps and curated cocktail hour was no exception. His primary piece of entertaining advice? "Fresh flowers and lighting, it always makes people feel more relaxed." But with drinks imported straight from Highlands' bar — including some beautiful Black Grouse whisky — laid-back tunes, and a cozy trans-Atlantic vibe, it was impossible not to feel relaxed in the first place. Watch the vid below and get seriously inspired for a pre-game plan that might make your guests reluctant to actually get to their post plans.
