Local lady Courtney Kryston is an up-and-coming stylist we're excited to get to know. With a resume including stints in the fashion departments of Harper's Bazaar, W, and Interview—in addition to time training under the likes of Karl Templer, Samira Nasr, and Melanie Ward—she's definitely honed her aesthetic based on some wildly varied influences with some of the most creative minds in the industry.
She's taken that hodgepodge of influence and defined a sense of personal style she calls "classic, easy and somewhat minimal — boyish with flourishes of femininity." With style icons ranging from the inimitable Katherine Hepburn to former Helmut designer Melanie Ward, we can see how that works. Kryston says, "Both have incredible taste and effortless beauty. Katherine for classic, no-nonsense tailored elements and Melanie for her sexy minimal grunge."
Oh, and her very best styling trick? It's all in the fit: "The best secret I’ve learned on the job would have to be to buy slightly bigger clothes and have them tailored to fit you." Click through for her updated take on the tailored classics, with awesome insider styling tricks to go with 'em! Classic, indeed.
