Now that it's finally warming up, the last thing any of us want to worry about are the downsides to hot (read: sweaty) weather. You know — acne and oil. But sometimes, you have to admit that your usual skin-care regime might not cut it in the summer, and you need to take an extra step to keep your face in check. Enter, facials.
Their calming and skin-soothing qualities go unmatched, but we don't always have the time or money to see a professional. So when we can whip them up in the comfort of our own homes (and in the comfort of our PJs), we can't be happier. But with the overwhelming amount of information online, it's hard to know which DIY concoctions will be best suited for our summer skin.
To clear up (pun certainly intended) all the confusion, we asked some of our favorite herbalists — Anit Hora of Mullein & Sparrow, and Sarah Buscho and Marina Storm of Earth tu Face — to guide us on our quest to find the best acne and oil-fighting combinations. After all, these ladies founded their own small-batch brands, for which they do all the mixing and product-creating themselves.
Hora, Buscho, and Storm gave us the inside scoop on their favorite DIY recipes, which you can use once or twice a week depending on how oily your skin is. Check out the how-tos in the following slides.
