Kenzo Goes Wild And Wonderful For Spring ’13

Kenzo has secured itself on our list as one of our favorite fashion come-back stories to date, and today's Paris Fashion Week presentation was only further evidence of Humberto Leon and Carol Lim's continued success. Playing up familiar silhouettes and graphics (yes, those amazing jungle cats are back), the spring '13 collection was consistently exciting, look by look.
As if taking us on an imaginary ride into the wild, the collection featured safari jackets, utilitarian details, and muted, neutral shades of forest green and sandy beige. But, as expected, it was Kenzo's unbeatable prints that stole the show. Leon and Lim have completely re-envisioned the animal print — their version is unexpected, brilliantly colorful, and irresistibly charming, all at once. We were also delighted by the exotic florals and botanical prints that appeared on collared dresses, flowing onesies, silky suit-and-jacket combos, and chic collarless coats.
Completing the looks, the models slipped their hands into sturdy-handled clutches (love!), sported rounded shades of blue and brown, and were adorned with custom jewelry by Delfina Delettrez. And, closing the show with the complete line of ladies posed behind a scrim and projected with images of flowers and trees, a familiar tune comes to mind. Kenzo, you wild thing, you really make our hearts sing.
