David Beckham Refuses To Cut His Daughter’s Hair

For a man who's gotten loads of attention for his edgy haircuts over the years, David Beckham is taking a surprising approach with his daughter's mane. In a recent interview with Yahoo!, Beckham said that four-year-old Harper has never gotten her hair cut. "About a year ago, my wife said, 'Maybe we should cut Harper’s hair.' And I was like, 'No! We need to grow it. Do. Not. Touch,'" he told Yahoo. "Since she was born, we haven’t cut it. That’s why it’s pretty much down to her knees." In response, the interviewer said: "You saved Harper's hair!" to which Beckham replied: "I had to. It's just so good, isn't it?" Yes, David, it is. Harper's long locks and topknots have "future style star" written all over them. (Although, if her mom's beauty history is any indication, short hair will look just as adorable on her.) The Beckhams aren't the only ones opting out of kiddie cuts — and not only the parents of little girls are doing so. Back in May, The New York Times reported that more and more parents are letting their sons' hair grow past the typical short length we're used to seeing on little boys — some to the shoulders, others long enough to be pulled back into mini man buns. For the parents interviewed in the article, this is not meant to make a statement. Expressing a similar sentiment to Beckham, one mother said, “We just think he looks adorable. We can’t bring ourselves to cut it.” Beyond the cuteness, Beckham didn’t go into much detail about why he and Victoria have decided not to cut Harper’s hair. Are they gearing up to make a super-generous donation to Locks of Love? Does Harper have a say in the matter? Are they waiting for David’s former-hairstylist mom to cut it? We may never know. But we can say with certainty that if they do choose to cut Harper’s hair, David won't be holding the scissors. "I do cut my sons’ hair from time to time. When they have a buzz cut, I do it," he says. "If I have to use scissors, the boys know not to ask — [my mother] never taught me how to do that."
