Miley Cyrus Says Nicki Minaj’s Comments About The VMAs Were “Not Polite”

Nicki Minaj vs. Taylor Swift was the Twitter feud heard 'round the Internet. Sparked by Minaj voicing her thoughts on why "Anaconda" was snubbed for Video of the Year after the VMA nominations were announced, everyone had something to say about the tweets, including Katy Perry. Now, the host of this Sunday's VMAs — none other than Miley Cyrus — is giving her two cents. In an interview with The New York Times published on Thursday, Cyrus was asked what she thought of the controversy. Her response? "If you do things with an open heart and you come at things with love, you would be heard and I would respect your statement," she told The Times. "But I don’t respect your statement because of the anger that came with it...You made it about you. Not to sound like a bitch, but that’s like, 'Eh, I didn’t get my V.M.A.'" After criticizing Minaj for making the issue about herself, she went on to call Minaj's comments "not too kind" and "not very polite." Cyrus also brought up a really good point: When celebrities feud with each other, the media focuses on the catfight rather than the issue they're actually fighting over. (In this case, Minaj's concern was that the VMA nominations favored artists with slim body types.) "It became Nicki Minaj and Taylor in a fight, so now the story isn’t even on what you wanted it to be about," she said. All in all, Cyrus' latest interview gave us plenty to to chew on — which has become par for the course for the pop star.
