Tumblr artist TheNamelessDoll certainly isn't the only one to imagine what our favorite animated heroines would look like if they were rendered as actual humans instead of minuscule waifs. But her spectacular GIFs actually bring the princesses to life in the context of their animated worlds. We've seen a lot of variations on Disney princesses lately. We've even imagined what Kardashian versions of the princesses might look like. And while it's fun to play around with the characters, it's also obvious that Disney's animated female forms don't promote healthy body image. For example, someone pointed out that the princesses' eyes are actually bigger than their waists, and last year, a petition sprouted up advocating for a plus-size princess. TheNamelessDoll's images, which have recently been making the internet rounds, are notable in part for just how skillfully executed they are. Through the GIFs, one can easily imagine what movies starring these versions of the characters would look like, and the results are pretty amazing. "I wanted to make a plus-size princess (even though +size on Belle looks like medium by real-life standards) and chose my all time favourite princess for the test. I wanted to make her even fuller, but my skills weren’t up to the task. :(" the artist writes beside the image of Belle.
It's worth exploring TheNamelessDoll's Tumblr to see the other wonders she has worked on animated characters. The artist also has imagined what Ariel would look like if her upper-body physique was more akin to that of an Olympic swimmer, and what a whole slew of princesses would look like with short hair. TheNamelessDoll has also envisioned what a host of female animated characters' faces would look like with "'realistic' proportions." Sometimes it takes a fresh perspective to help viewers see such familiar characters in a new light.
