Here’s How To Stream Homeland Without A Cable Subscription

Great news for those of you who've ditched cable TV: Starting today, you can get your Homeland fix even if you don't have a Showtime subscription. OK, maybe now we're ready to ditch cable. The service, simply called Showtime, costs $11 a month following a 30-day free trial and can be used on Apple devices (iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, or iPod touch) or on a Roku or PlayStation Vue. You'll be able to catch shows like Homeland and The Affair, as well as upcoming premieres for the shows Masters of Sex and Ray Donovan. To give it a try, just download Showtime's app from the App Store. If you're a Hulu subscriber, you can tack Showtime streaming on for a reduced rate: $9 a month (the two are partners, and Hulu already costs $8 a month). It seems that the cord-cutting movement has been picking up momentum, this year: Through March, the pay-TV industry lost around 40,000 subscribers during a period of the year when it normally increases its subscriber base. In April, HBO released its standalone $15 a month streaming service, HBO Now. Between that, and services like Hulu and Netflix, and now Showtime, which offer live sports and broadcasts in addition to its movies and TV shows, there are fewer and fewer reasons to pay for a monthly cable subscription — or even have a TV.
