The dawn of awards season means many things. The online film cognoscenti endlessly debate the merits of this movie over that movie. Celebrities take schmoozing into the realm of high art. And W releases its annual movie issue.
This year, they'll release seven different covers. They feature Emma Stone, Reese Witherspoon, Bradley Cooper, Shailene Woodley, Julianne Moore, Amy Adams, and the only tandem of the bunch, Benedict Cumberbatch and Keira Knightley.
The charming British thesps will make the red carpet their second home this season, as both have amassed considerable awards heat for their work in the stirring Alan Turing biopic, The Imitation Game. As the socially awkward but brilliant Nazi codebreaker, Benedict delivers what's being called the best performance of his career, and is a virtual lock for his first Oscar nod. Knightley will likely take a seat alongside Cumberbatch in The Dolby Theater come Oscar night for her turn as Turing's equally brilliant female counterpart, Joan Clarke.
