Ashley Olsen’s Scarf Makes Her Whole Outfit

Ashley Olsen is no slouch when it comes to wearing things that are flowy, oversized, and, come to think of it, slouchy. But, there’s a real method to her ensembles that always seem “just grabbed whatever was at the front of my closet” chic. And, the outfit she wore last week for the launch of Kate Young’s new fashion tome Dressing For The Dark and the Sidney Garber store opening in NYC is the latest example.
The base of this Olsen twin's outfit is a classic and body-consuming black coat. Ashley’s topper draped to the floor with a still-structured shape, achieving the look of both outerwear and maxi-dress at once. She accessorized with black boots underneath, but the star of this ensemble was The Row designer’s bright, citrus-striped scarf.
Instead of mastering a perfect neck-brace wrap, Ashley opted to wear this pop of color like another full-length garment. Because it nearly flows to her knees, the scarf acts like another dress for Olsen, completely changing her look with its statement-making hue. It's a pretty genius way to make your tired, worn-on-repeat overcoat feel refreshed. And, one we can easily add to the list of trends the Olsen Twins have turned us onto.
