health behaviors, regardless of whether weight changes," declares the HAES manifesto. Research affirms that "even people who gained body fat while
participating in an exercise program improved their health." Perhaps the boldest statement put forth by the movement: "No one has ever shown that losing weight prolongs life. Some studies actually indicate that intentional weight loss increases the risk of dying early from certain diseases." It's not necessarily weight, but the cycle of yo-yo dieting that hurts our health far more than we ever realized.
