Taylor Swift writes a lot of love songs. Correction: She writes a lot of unrequited love songs. At just 24, T. Swift is kind of an expert on reciprocal feelings and the lack thereof. It actually makes a lot of sense that fans would come to her for advice on the subject. It's more of a logical progression than, say, Swift being asked to ruminate on the future of music for the The Wall Street Journal.
But, we digress. What matters here is that the love doctor is IN...stagram. A fan wrote a long missive detailing her situation to Swift. "There's a guy, Taylor, a guy who's sweet and charming and makes me laugh. A guy who said sorry for eating in front of me after finding out I had to skip breakfast. A guy who grew up across the street from me," Instagram user sherbetswift (a.k.a. Hannah) writes. Unfortunately, the object of her affection is in a relationship with someone else.
"A guy who grew up across the street from me," why does that sound so familiar? Oh, right, Hannah is basically describing an IRL version of the "You Belong With Me" video. Maybe it's her familiarity with the situation that prompted Taylor to respond to Hannah's plea for advice. Here's what her thoughtful, thumb-tapped essay says:
