Whitney Port’s Clothing Line Is Alive & Well, Thank You Very Much

Last week, our very own style director, Connie Wang, attributed her own fashion career to The Hills, crediting Whitney Port's no-holds-barred attitude, passion, and success since the show as one of her main justifications. We can see why. Since starting her eponymous line, Whitney Eve, back in 2008, Port's worked tirelessly to grow and evolve the label to the empire it's quickly becoming. "In my opinion, I really feel like it's bigger and better than ever," she told us. "It's nice when something evolves, and you're able to step back and feel proud of it."
We caught up with the California-based designer to talk about her personal style, her latest spring collection, and having a little something for everyone — even tracksuits for mom! Plus, we've got the premiere of the label's latest fashion video below.

What's your favorite piece from the collection?
"My favorite piece is the moto jacket we did this season. It’s definitely the piece that I’m wearing the most, and a really cool staple for every girl's wardrobe."

What's your biggest goal for the line right now?
"I really think my biggest goal is having my collection on more and more girls. There's nothing better for me than when I see girls wearing the pieces and making them their own. I really want people to know that the line is alive. I feel like some people think that because I did this line so long ago, and I haven’t been on TV for a while, I don’t think people know that it’s still alive and thriving."

How would you describe your own style?
"It's really a mix of funky streetwear with feminine prints and silhouettes."

As your own style matures, do you feel like the line evolves simultaneously?
"Definitely. But, at the same time, I really want to keep it fresh and young. It’s important to me to really have something for everyone in every collection. While there is the 16-year-old who is going to wear some of our graphic tees and funkier prints, there’s the college girl who’s going to wear the moto jacket, there’s the girl out of college who is going to wear the cocktail dresses and blazers, and then there are women like my mom who will wear my sweaters and tracksuits! So, even though I want it to always feel fresh and current, I don’t want to put the line in a box and say it’s for any specific person.”
