Acne Studios’ Latest Collection Is A Lesson In Art History

Not all prints are created equal, as the motifs in Acne Studios' latest spring collection prove. The brand’s creative director Jonny Johansson took inspiration for his graphic patterns from a long-forgotten abstract artist Hilma af Klint. Johansson received permission from the late artist’s foundation to use the artwork as the basis for some of the designs.
“The colors and the depth and beauty of Hilma af Klint’s universe will strike anyone who spends time with her art," he explained. "I feel very honoured that the Hilma af Klint foundation gave me the freedom to create a small collection based on some of her most important work.”
The result is a sunny, weather-ready line of T-shirts, jersey tops, scarves, and totes. The sharp bursts of tangerine, teal, navy, and grape feel spot on for the upcoming season, and the brand’s trademark slouchy cuts make the pieces a surefire hit in anyone’s wardrobe. The only issue is choosing which top to wear first. Click through to see the entire range, and let us know in the comments which styles you’d like to see in your closet.
