Cars In Designer Prints? Only In Paris

We go crazy for new prints every season. Kenzo evil eyes. Marni flowers. Prada painted ladies. These are the graphics that become iconic and make a splurge seem so worth it. But, somehow our cars never got the memo. It may not be totally practical to make a major purchase based on a trend that could be old news next year, but, for a moment, Toyota's making us consider: What if?
As Paris gears up for Fashion Week, the Japanese auto maker has teamed with some of the coolest indie labels from the City of Lights. Specifically, Surface to Air, Calla, and Cacharel have all lent patterns from their spring '14 collections to deck out the bodies of Toyota Yaris Hybrids. The result? Traffic-stopping style — figuratively, and possibly literally, speaking.
The three floral-covered cars will be on display at Capsule during Paris Fashion Week, although (unfortunately) that's no indication that we'll be able to pick out custom patterns for our sedans in the future. No, not even a Y-3 racing stripe or a Missoni zigzag. You'll have to click ahead to see the designer-clad cars, plus a peek at the French-fashion inspiration. It's a really moving collaboration.
