Sisters Laura and Kate Mulleavy have always infused their collections for Rodarte with their West Coast roots, but for their latest project, we almost feel like we've received the green light to hang out with them right in their living room. And play video games.
For a collaboration with The Creators Project, Rodarte has teamed with filmmaker Todd Cole and our music obsession Beach House for "This Must Be The Only Fantasy," a fashion film with a serious sci-fi twist set in Encino.
The 13-minute video follows our brave heroine played by Sidney Williams, as she searches for Trevor and Elijah Wood and encounters unicorns and evil roadblocks along the way. Of course — because this is a Rodarte film, after all — Williams' lightsaber-sword fight with a cloaked figure and encounter with a bunch of slacker trolls is nothing short of a wonderful mix of video-game geekery and beautiful design.
Will our heroine find what she's looking for? Will she falter in the face of adversity? Will she look rad in a silver ear cuff? (Okay, that's an easy one.) Watch on to see how it all unfolds.
