Ever wonder what some of your favorite actors and fashion designers would look like with surfboard fins sprouting out of their bodies? Well, the thought never crossed our minds, actually, but with the unveiling of Alberto Guglielmi's portrait series entitled "Surfer DNA," the results turned out pretty rad. So rad, in fact, that R29 is even pitching in to co-sponsor the Brooklyn-based photographer's opening event in Montauk this weekend.
Benefitting Waves For Water, a charity undertaking the Sandy Relief Initiative, Guglielmi snapped a star-studded lineup of talented individuals who double as surfers when they're off the clock. Cynthia Rowley, Anna Sophia Robb, and hotelier Sean MacPherson round out the impressive list of A-listers who helped convey the transformation. As Guglielmi sees it, "It doesn't just affect your life; it becomes part of your DNA."
The portrait series is moving to the Montauk Beach House this Friday, August 2, from 8 to 10 p.m. Check out all of the art at 55 S. Elmwood Ave., and don't be surprised if you suddenly feel inspired to pick up a surfboard and hit the waves.
