News flash: Politicians don’t know how to use Instagram. This little tidbit of information comes courtesy of Facebook, via a just-posted job listing for a Political Outreach Manager. The main purpose of the job? To connect with politicians and political figures and instruct them on how to best utilize their Instagram accounts. In all honesty, we prefer when celebs and influencers have authentic, real-life 'gram accounts, instead of professionally managed streams, but we can see the value of a little hands-on training.
The role will be a part of Facebook’s government and policy politics team (yes, that exists) and is based here in D.C. So, if you're a socially-savvy Washingtonian with a robust (and non-embarassing) Instagram feed and a love of politics, it's time to dust off that resume. (Washington Business Journal)
