Charlotte Olympia Goes Punk With Help From Tom Binns

The Met's Costume Institute exhibit “PUNK: Chaos to Couture” is shaping up to be a legendary moment in the growing history of museums partnering with fashion houses. The exhibit will detail the rise of punk from its underground origins to a bona fide couture force with widespread influences both in and out of the mainstream. And, of course, ironic as it may be, there's merch to match. The latest? Charlotte Olympia's all-the-rage Pandora lucite box clutch, now re-imagined with help from jewelry designer Tom Binns.

The bag is part of a collaborative capsule collection, which will also include a punk-precious take on the brand's beloved kitten slippers. Johnny Rotten would probably object to the notion that all you need to go punk is a box of safety pins, and while that may be true, this collection takes safety pins to the couture side of the spectrum — illustrating the effect this changing movement has had in the minds of designers the world over. The collection will be available at Charlotte Olympia stores in Manhattan as well as online beginning on May 2.
