When we spotted the just-released spring '13 campaign for Jason Wu a few days ago, we had no idea that Stephanie Seymour would not be the only pleasant surprise in the photos. While the over 40-year-old supermodel made a jaw-dropping appearance in lace-lined pants, there is only one other person who could have given these photos an extra special dose of star power. And thankfully, Jason Wu himself was happy to step in.
Behold: The alternate Wu campaign that you won't be seeing in every glossy. The man behind the lush threads had a moment in front of the lens as he posed with the two stars: Seymour and his designs. While we happen to think that Wu's got the modeling chops, ultimately, it was his decision to cut himself from the final selection.

"As someone who is generally shy and prefers to be behind the scene, it was sort of foreign to be in front of the camera...but I suppose if there is a time to do it, then there is no better time than in the company of Stephanie Seymour and Inez and Vinoodh," the New York designer told us. "While I decided to [keep] the print campaign concentrated on Stephanie's dynamic solo image, I've gotten myself the best portrait ever!"
On one hand, the final decision is one we respect and understand. But, on the other, we sorta love this shot — Wu and Seymour make for the perfect balance of dapper and hot-damn! But, you tell us: Was Wu's final choice of campaign image (below) a missed opportunity, or is fronting your own namesake label just a tad too gauche?
