We Tried Anastasia Beverly Hills’ First Mascara — & Here Are Our Unfiltered Thoughts

Thanks to its founder, iconic brow artist Anastasia Soare, Anastasia Beverly Hills first made its mark as the authority on all things brows. While it'll always be famous for its culty Brow Wiz and Dipbrow Pomade, ABH has successfully expanded into eyeshadow, highlighter, brushes, lip color, and most recently, mascara.

Dropping today, ABH's Lash Brag Volumizing Mascara comes with an hourglass-shaped brush that promises to deliver dramatic volume and length with a soft, conditioned feel. What's more, the brand says the buildable formula is water- and clump-proof.

"For the record, mascara is the least important step in my makeup routine. My hot makeup take is that lashes don't always have to be super long and super thick — mostly because mine are short and very curly. But after trying the ABH mascara, Team Lashes may have made up a few points! While the mascara is a bit messy (getting the wand out was a whole thing), it goes on very thick and black. My lashes were the darkest and thickest that they've ever been, adding some glam to my no-makeup makeup look. There was a little bit of clumping, but not enough for me to put the wand down. I say, pick this up when you need to turn up your look." — Ineye Komonibo, trending entertainment writer

"My lashes are naturally dark, curled, and pretty long (thanks, parents!), so when it comes to mascara, I’m looking for a formula that will create a full, feathery look without clumps. Let me tell you, Lash Brag is that mascara. The formula is silky-soft and black as night (my pet peeve is when black formulas are closer to charcoal grey), and although there were some clumps upon application, I was able to comb them out by maneuvering the curvy brush. I only went with a couple light coats, but you could definitely layer more on for extra volume." — Karina Hoshikawa, beauty & wellness market writer

"I've been on a hiatus from my lash extensions for a few months and have yet to find a mascara that gets me as close to a full set as possible. I was impressed by this formula because it made my lashes look super fluttery. I used two coats in this photo and felt like I got both volume and length without having to pack on a million layers. It did flake a little throughout the day, but I didn't look like a raccoon by the time I got home from work. I'd recommend to anyone weaning off lash extensions." — Aimee Simeon, beauty writer

"The one product I can’t live without is mascara, so it’s safe to say that I’m very critical when it comes to formulas. This mascara was "Wow!" at first swipe. While I have particularly long lashes, I normally have to apply three to four layers to get the effect I like, but after just two coats, I was left with a fluttery, false lash look. I will say that the formula did easily smudge around midday, so I’d be interested to see how it holds up with a mascara primer. But for now, I will say the dramatic volume is worth a little cleanup.” — Thatiana Diaz, senior beauty writer
