An Exhaustive Guide To Lisa Vanderpump's Restaurant Empire

As regular Bravo viewers will know, Lisa Vanderpump is more than just a reality TV star. In addition to her roles on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and Vanderpump Rules, she and her husband Ken Todd are also seasoned restauranteurs.

"They have been owning restaurants and bars for over 30 years," LVP's publicist explained to Refinery29. He couldn't provide an exact number but relayed that Vanderpump says they've opened "over 30" establishments over the course of their careers. Among those over 30 businesses were the Shadow Lounge in London's SoHo, which became a landmark LGBT club, as well as a spot called Bar SoHo, a Cheers-themed megabar in the West End, and a four-room cocktail bar in Piccadilly called Jewel. All of these eventually closed down after with the exception of Bar SoHo.

These days, however, Vanderpump and Todd are concentrating on restaurants and bars in the United States. "They sold off their UK holdings years ago," the publicist shared. But, fans still have plenty of option when it comes to dining at a Vanderpump establishment. Ahead, you'll a complete guide to Lisa Vanderpump's current restaurants, bars, lounges, and cocktail gardens in Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, and Las Vegas.

SUR

The Sexy Unique Restaurant made famous by Bravo has actually been around since way before any Real Housewives graced the silver screen. Guillermo Zapata first opened the restaurant back in 1998 and ran it with his wife Nathalie, whom he met at the restaurant in 2001. According to SUR's website, Guillermo and Nathalie partnered with Lisa Vanderpump and Ken Todd in 2005.

In a 2017 episode of This is LA, Zapata shared that at the time of its opening, SUR had just 12 tables. The spot has come a very long way since then, and according to Zapata, LVP and her many years of experience designing restaurants were key to SUR's expansion. Of her work re-designing the restaurant, Vanderpump wrote on the website, "I wanted to follow the vibe of my existing restaurant that has always been so well received but carve out a niche in design that would make a statement in West Hollywood." The resulting decor is "a complete unpredictable collection of things that I loved."

Zapata says that the one thing that makes SUR so successful — besides exposure from Vanderpump Rules, of course — is the sense of belonging people get when they visit. "I think the most important thing is, one word, family. Whoever works with us is considered family. Altogether, we create an energy that people, when they walk in here, they feel it and they want to come back to feel that and be part of this." That must explain why LVP is always so involved in the personal lives of her staff.

Paul Barro, host of Foodable Network's Table 42, has described SUR's menu as an "approachable, eclectic mixture of fine-dining dishes spanning from the Chilean sea bass to fried chicken. Sur's found the perfect balance between simplicity, high-style, and savory perfection while putting on a show every night." When visiting SUR, you'll surely want to try a cocktail made by Jax Taylor, but Zapata also recommends ordering the chicken and shrimp steamed dumplings with sweet Thai chili sauce. Stassi Schroeder, on the other hand, would suggest ordering the fried goat cheese balls.

As of this writing, SUR has 3.5 stars on Yelp with 3,257 reviews. It has 4 stars on Trip Advisor with 920 reviews. Finally, it has 4.3 stars and 6,790 reviews on OpenTable, where visitors can go to book reservations at the restaurant today.

Villa Blanca

Villa Blanca opened its doors in August 2009, a little over a year before the first season of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills premiered in October 2010. Since then, the Housewives, including Lisa Vanderpump, have enjoyed many glasses of rosé and orders of tuna tartare among the crisp all-white decor.

What many RHOBH and Vanderpump Rules fans might not know is that Villa Blanca is actually a Mediterranean restaurant with "an Asian twist." "It is quite eclectic, which you do have the luxury of doing in California. You can put together a menu that really reaches out and suits everybody," LVP explained to in a 2014 episode of the Cooking Channel program Robert Earl's Be My Guest,

As a restaurant run by a reality star, it's no surprise that Villa Blanca has had a dramatic past. In 2013, the tabloids reported that a customer found a piece of cardboard in their lobster and crab salad. When the customer sent it back, the second salad allegedly had a piece of cardboard in it as well. The restaurant has also been in the news for critical health code violations, but during its last inspection on February 6, 2019, it was given a score of 94, according to Los Angeles County Public Health records.

Though LVP has successfully sold many of her restaurants, Villa Blanca has never been taken off her hands. In July 2014, the spot was listed by luxury real estate broker Hilton & Hyland, according to Eater. After the first failed attempt, the restaurant was put back up for sale in February 2015, but no one ever snatched it up.

As of this writing, Villa Blanca has 3.5 stars on Yelp with 1,470 reviews. It has 4 stars on Trip Advisor with 768 reviews. Finally, it has 4.4 stars and 3,659 reviews on OpenTable, where visitors can go to book reservations at the restaurant today.

PUMP

Back in season 4 of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, viewers were given a glance at the process behind creating PUMP. In a 2014 episode, Lisa Vanderpump and her husband Ken Todd were shown doing a walkthrough of the space that would soon become the restaurant with their contractors, and the Real Housewife explained, "PUMP has been so much work. It's been three times as long and three times the money and three times the complications, but I feel we're getting there." In the same scene, she revealed that she had become an ordained minister so that she could perform gay marriage ceremonies at PUMP, which she went on to do for the first time in December 2014.

Though bringing PUMP to life may have been more difficult than LVP initially anticipated, it ended up looking a lot like her other restaurants. Shortly after the spot's May 2014 opening, the restauranteur gave Entertainment Tonight a tour and described its vibe as "elegant-scruffy." Though that's the same basic aesthetic as SUR, Vanderpump thinks PUMP stands out for being a bit more "sexy," "magical," and "sumptuous." The decor pieces, according to ET, are inspired by the seven years she spent in France, but it's the 100-year-old olive trees that were specially planted in the garden that sets the place apart.

Like Villa Blanca, PUMP specializes in Mediterranean food. Executive chef Penny Davidi helped create the spot's menu. "Everything is very fresh, everything is very healthy, and it's a garden fare. It's Mediterranean garden fare," Davidi told ET. As enticing as garden fare sounds, there's no question that the most iconic item on the menu is the Pump-tini, which is made with vodka, Pavan liqueur, fresh grapefruit, fresh lime, muddled raspberry, and a sugar-rimmed glass.

Though the space doesn't have it's own reality show like SUR, it has been in the media lately after Real Housewives of Atlanta cast member NeNe Leakes claimed that she had wanted to open her own PUMP-like gay bar in the space that the restaurant now occupies, but Lisa Vanderpump talked her out of buying the property because it was "a piece of crap" and too expensive for what it was. Leakes alleges that shortly after that conversations, Vanderpump purchased the spot herself and began work on PUMP. LVP, of course, denies the claims.

As of this writing, PUMP has 3.5 stars on Yelp with 2,199 reviews, and 4 stars on Trip Advisor with 585 reviews. It also has 4.5 stars and 3,356 reviews on OpenTable, where visitors can go to book reservations at the restaurant today. In 2017, PUMP was named one of the Top 100 Hot Spot Restaurants in America by OpenTable Diners.

Tom Tom

While Bravo fans often make pilgrimages to Vanderpump's many restaurants for a tongue-in-cheek adventure while in Los Angeles, visits to Tom Tom, which officially opened in August 2018, have been followed by un-ironic praise. Recently, one Yelp reviewer wrote, "We are big Vanderpump fans and we did a tour of all three spots in the neighborhood and this was by far the best decor and drinks!!"

Like with SUR, Vanderpump and Todd teamed up with another couple to open Tom Tom. For this project, the couple in question is made up of besties and Vanderpump Rules castmates Tom Sandoval and Tom Schwartz. During the current season of the Bravo series, Sandoval and Schwartz have struggled to get cocktails they created for the spot approved by LVP. In the end, at their partner's request, the two men worked with renowned corporate mixologist Sly Cosmopolous to get many of their beverages well-crafted enough to make the cut. Penny Davidi, PUMP's executive chef, curated Tom Tom's family-style dinner menu.

To create Tom Tom's steampunk-inspired interior, Lisa Vanderpump partnered with Miami-based industrial designer and creative director Nick Alain. The finished product is described on the bar's website: "The well-stocked bar is set against a mesmerizing massive brass clock, an old-world style floor-to-ceiling timepiece fit for a movie set; the exposed inner wheels of which rotate and move behind the crystal glasses and delicate coupes. Clear Edison light bulbs are strewn across floor-to-ceiling glass windows on the partially-covered patio overlooking West Hollywood's newest Dog Park." Of course, VPR viewers are already extremely familiar with the whole look, especially the massive clock and the framed photograph of Sandoval and Schwartz sharing a kiss.

As of this writing, TomTom has 3.5 stars on Yelp with 371 reviews. It has 4 stars on Trip Advisor with 14 reviews. TomTom is not yet accessible through OpenTable, but the still new-ish restaurant's site explains the service will be available soon. Recently, LA Travel Magazine named Tom Tom the best bar in all of Southern California as part of its 2019 Reader's Choice Awards.

Vanderpump Cocktail Garden

On the last weekend of March 2019, Caesars Palace in Las Vegas celebrated the grand opening of Vanderpump Cocktail Garden. This newest addition to Lisa Vanderpump and Ken Todd's empire is dedicated to bringing guests innovative craft cocktails, all of which have cheeky, Vanderpump-approved names like The Checkmate Bitch and Giggy Tonic. Yelp reviewers seemed to especially like the Please Her, Caesar, which is made with Vanderpump vodka, Rosé Champagne, blackberry, elderflower, lemon, and aquafaba.

Though drinks that highlight the reality star's various eponymous alcohols are the star of the cocktail garden's menu, it also offers small bites, shareable plates, and desserts. As someone whose signature color is pink and whose Housewives tagline was once "Life isn't all diamonds and rosé, but it should be," LVP created a dessert called the Vanderpump Rosé Cake for Two that is actually made with rosé-infused sponge cake and bright-pink strawberry buttercream.

The lounge's decor, which as LVP says is one of the most vital parts of any Vanderpump establishment, features her signature "masculine yet romantic" aesthetic. According to a press release about the spot's official opening, the indoor patio has an alfresco-style garden, mood lighting, and olive trees just like at Pump. Nick Alain, the designer responsible for getting TomTom's clocks ticking, also helped make Vandperpump Cocktail Garden gorgeous.

Vanderpump said of her new contribution to Caesars Palace, "We have created a unique, decadent space with a majestic feel where guests can relax in a sexy garden oasis."

As of this writing, the Vanderpump Cocktail Garden has 4 stars on Yelp with 47 reviews. It also has 4 stars on Trip Advisor with 16 reviews.
