Well, you can never accuse Miley Cyrus of not telling it like it is — even when she's talking with the esteemed New York Times. Which is a good thing, because you know we just love a juicy interview to pore over when we're eating our cornflakes.
In her interview with Jon Caramanica of the Times, the pop star starts out by defending herself against claims that she's racist and degrading to women. "We know we’re not racist, and I know I’m not putting down women," Cyrus says. "People got a rise out of me saying that I was a feminist, but I am. I’m telling women [to] be whoever you want to be."

Though she acknowledges that the public sees her as a "sex freak that really just pops molly and does lines all day," the 21-year-old says she's just putting on a show for the sake of rock 'n' roll.
Another telling tidbit includes Cyrus' admission that many celebs steer clear of her because "some of them are scared of the association" and force her to delete photos of them. Her current pet project appears to be singer/fellow teen star Ariana Grande. Brace yourselves, Nickelodeon.
"I was backstage with Ariana Grande," she reveals. "I’m like, 'Walk out with me right now and get this picture, and this will be the best thing that happens to you, because just you associating with me makes you a little less sweet.' She’s trying. I see her wearing the shorter things. She comes in, and she goes, 'This made me feel like you.' And I’m like, 'That was like my sixth-grade prom dress.' She’s, I think, still on Nickelodeon. She has people that she has to kind of respect."
Cyrus is also quick to call out Joe Jonas for accusing her and Demi Lovato of pressuring him to smoke weed during their Disney heyday. "If you want to smoke weed, you’re going to smoke weed," she insists. "There’s nothing that two little girls are going to get you to do that you don’t want to do. I thought maybe he was saying that like it was going to make him look badass. We were so young that it’s actually like, 'How did you get peer pressured by me?'"
