Is This Staten Island Garage The Next Cool Party Spot?

After one pleasant evening in Williamsburg, Staten Island-developer Gary Angiuli decided that the grass isn't always greener on the other side. It's green where you water it. Thus, plans for the redevelopment of Staten Island's "Back of the Bay" — as Angiuli refers to the Bay Street block — began.
Having leased out a large, former car-dealership warehouse, Angiuli hopes to unite restaurants, flower shops, wine stores, jazz clubs, and more to create a "hip hangout spot". First to join the party is The Flagship Brewing Company, which will be the first brewery the area has seen in years.
While Angiuli hopes that the redevelopment will create more of a neighborhood location than a tourist attraction, we wonder: Will Staten Island's downtown 'hood be able to find its own unique energy? Will we soon be traveling to S.I. for the most delicious, hand-tossed pizzas and authentic Mexican food? We'll have to wait — until next January at the earliest — and see. (DNA Info)
