It's National Rum Day! Sip Up & Celebrate With These 7 Cocktails

It’s National Rum Day, didn’t you know? And we're counting down the hours 'til 5pm. Giving you no excuse but to make the most of the celebrations, we've scored some help from those in the know, for some delectable, and all-too-drainable rum-tipple recipes. That's right, it's time to channel your inner pirate! Ahoy, me hearties! So, call your homies, stock up on mixers, pool your spirits, and happy drinking!

Ginger Coco

Ingredients:
35ml Malibu
15ml Ginger Liqueur
4 pineapple chunks
50ml pineapple juice
15ml lemon juice
Ginger slice

Method:
Muddle, shake, and fine strain into a rocks glass. Garnish with a ginger slice and a pineapple chunk.

Wray & Nephew Reggae Rum Punch

Ingredients:
25ml Wray and Nephew Overproof Rum
50ml Orange Juice
50ml Pineapple Juice
25ml Grenadine/Strawberry syrup
Squeeze of 1 Fresh Lime
Cubed ice

Method: Mix all ingredients except the syrup over ice in shaker. Pour over cubed ice into a glass and top with grenadine or syrup.

Appleton Estate Voodoo

Ingredients:
50ml Appleton Estate VX
2 tsps of caster sugar
25ml sweet vermouth
100ml cloudy apple juice
25ml fresh lime juice
A sprinkle of cinnamon

Method:
Add the lime juice to the glass and dissolve the sugar into it. Then add the cubed ice and the rest of the ingredients. Stir well. Garnish with ground cinnamon (sprinkle through a flame for more effect) and apple slices.

Ingredients:
40ml Plantation overproof rum
40ml grapefruit juice
20ml lime juice
2 teaspoons sugar syrup
15ml Rhubarb cordial

Method:
Combine first 5 ingredients, shake, strain into ice filled glass, top w/ medium cider and garnish with a grapefruit slice

Havana Club Daiquiri Floridita

Ingredients:
50ml of Havana Club Anejo 3 Anos
Two teaspoons of sugar
Juice of half a lime
A dash of Maraschino (optional)
1 glass of crushed ice

Method:
Place all ingredients in a blender and mix for 30 seconds. Serve in a daiquiri or martini glass.

The Extra Old Fashioned

Ingredients:
50ml Mount Gay Extra Old Rum
Dash of Angostura Bitters
Dash of Orange Bitters
Spoonful of Golden Sugar

Method:
Take the glass and mix the Golden Sugar with Angostura Bitters and Orange Bitters. Muddle together, pour in the Mount Gay Extra Old Rum, fill the glass three quarters full with ice cubes and continue to stir.

Sailor Jerry's Heavy Punch

Ingredients:
1 ½ parts Sailor Jerry Spiced
1 part pineapple juice
½ part port
½ part simple syrup
½ part fresh lime juice
4 dashes of bitters

Method:
Combine ingredients, shake, and strain over crushed ice. Garnish with fresh grated nutmeg.
