This Is Our Jam: Pulseprogramming, “First They Fire”

First They Fire” is buoyant electronic pop that flows along with the idle pleasure you may have felt as a kid while surfing the wind with your hand from a backseat car window. Pulseprogramming owe a lot to dream-pop forbears Cocteau Twins and the shoegazers that followed, which isn't a bad thing; sweet vocals and effervescent synthesizes aren't a hard sell (see also: Au Revoir Simone, M83). The video has vocalist Chanel Pease looking like she wandered off the set of Pierrot le fou, and it nicely complements the blithe and effortless-sounding track. (via XLR8R)
