The Classic Biker Jacket Gets a Modern Makeover at Colette This Fall

It's easy to imagine that motorcycle jackets burst onto the scene in the '50s along with biker bad boys James Dean and Marlon Brando, but the highway-bound, zig-zag zippered leather staple has been hanging tough since 1915. Now, with nearly a century of bad-ass under its belt, the biker jacket, officially known as the Perfecto, is getting a high-fashion revival of sorts from Colette. The French fashion supserstore is releasing a series of fresh takes on the classic piece by the likes of YSL, Gareth Pugh, Tom Ford, Hussein Chalayan, and even a couple of zippered biker-style Repettos. The perfected Perfectos go on sale in September, but until then you can just work on getting that rider's license.
