There are always minor upsets and surprises when it comes to the competitive categories at the Academy Awards. Then, there are the career-long oversights that will straight-up shock you. For example: Glenn Close has been nominated six times but has yet to take home Oscar gold. Talk about a crying shame.

Another surprise: Alfred Hitchcock never took home a statue for Best Director. What a bunch of malarkey-bollocks.

There have been so many glaring oversights that we were able to compile a whole list of stars who never once took home an Oscar in a competitive category (so memorial and honorary awards don't count). Warning: many of the names you're about to see WILL surprise you. C'mon, Academy. You're better than these glaring omissions.
