Opening Bird Blowout Lures Everyone from Corey to Comey

By the time we arrived at the opening party for owner Jen Mankins' new, sprawling Bird store on Grand Street in Williamsburg (which opens today), the crowd was moving toward maximum capacity—and maximum capacity trumped even our expectations. Tall ceilings, cork floors, repourposed hardwoods, carefully curated jewelry displays, and a decorative digital projections greeted us—along ample amounts of Champagne and Red Stripe. A smiling Mankins was in very, very good spirits as she chatted about her many plans for the large back area—sale items, furniture, events could all be in the works—as everyone from Corey Kennedy and Charlotte Ronson to Rachel Comey and a slew of stylists and other fashionable friends milled around the beautifully lit space with drinks in hand. As co-hosters, we were sure to snap all the friendly faces we could…here's our photo album from the evening.
