Marios Schwab Goes To Halston, We Go Nuts

halston-marios-schwab-1
Sometimes fashion executives get it wrong—but by choosing Marios Schwab to take over as Creative Director, the bigwigs behind Halston got it right. If you ask us, the relatively young Greek is the perfect choice to advance the label's unique take on American elegance toward more daring, conceptual territory, giving Halston the second life it deserves. The previous team focused on the history of Halston without bringing it into this century and the earlier rumored choice of Olivier Theyskens (love him as we do) wouldn't have worked (his aesthetic is too antique and precious for the famously simple Halston). We're imagining Schwab as the Elbaz to Halston's Lanvin (if you follow us) and, given his excellent use of luxe fabrics and fabrications in straightforward, wearable ways for his fall '09 collection (silk jumpers!!!), we can't wait to see the results. Without a single design sent down the runway, we're already obsessed. (WWD)
