This season, so far, has been a mix of dour moods (Robert Geller, Vena Cava) and bright exclamations (Marc Jacobs, Chris Benz), but Canada's Jeremy Laing has found the middle ground. Though this most mature collection of origami constructions often came in dark colors with black sheer accents, it was the shots of light and pigment in, around, and often underneath the wide-winged bolero vests and flowing dresses that truly impressed. A light-as-air silk gown, in particular, resembled a dragonfly on fire with its busy red-and-orange print. Toward the end of the show, another priestess-like number with a white starburst pattern batiked with blue edges underscored the idea of light shining through these dark times.
