Carine Roitfeld: Banned From Fashion Week Front Row, But Close To A Comeback

If there's two things we love, it's a comeback story and a mystery. The plight of former French Vogue editrix Carine Roitfeld is giving us a bit of both. According to Hint, the devastating femme was essentially banned from runway shows from New York to Milan by her old employer who claimed in a letter sent to top brands that her presence would create confusion, undermining the standing of new Paris Vogue EIC Emmanuelle Alt. "Whatever," said Carine. She just did private showroom meetings instead. And while she may not be throwing together a September issue, suggests Hint, Roitfeld could be hard at work on something much more interesting—either starting up an entirely new French magazine or coming to work at a Parisian megabrand as a consultant. The buzz has it that a new French edition of Harper's Bazaar is in the works specifically for Mme. Roitfeld to run. As well, she could wind up working with Hedi Slimane at Yves Saint Laurent if he returns to designing there or Dior whenever the Riccardo Tisci deal comes through. So, yes, she's nowhere near as visible as she was a year ago, but it seems Carine is no less busy. (Hint)
