When we say that it "rained on our parade," we're usually being hyperbolic. Not that we had a parade this weekend, but we did have two parties to attend that we were very much looking forward to: Club Monaco threw an event in Southampton, and Alice + Olivia gathered up a ton of NYC party people to celebrate its 10-year anniversary at Gurney's. (Sorry, Mother Nature, but your invite got lost in the mail.) So you can imagine that Saturday's rain was anything but welcome.
But far be it from us (or the events' savvy organizers) to let a little drizzle (or, okay, an all-out downpour) ruin the fun. Instead of a beach bonfire, it was a tented BBQ. After all, rosé is rosé, no matter where you drink it.
The downpour did prompt one question, however: What does one wear to a humid party in the Hamptons? For the answers, we looked to the experts who dressed to match their moods, with ensembles decidedly rebellious against the summer showers outside. These revelers ditched the rain boots and slickers in favor of white frocks and bohemian gowns. The party, as they say, must go on.
