Apparently friendship with Kanye West does not (just) entail endless discussions about the virtues of tonal denim and Timberlands.
Giuseppe Zanotti has spoken of this his friendship with the rapper-slash-designer-slash-part-time-Kardashian, and it's one of "sympathy and true brotherly love". Sweet. In an interview with Jay Z's Life+Times, the Italian footwear designer defends Kanye's fashion efforts, describing him as a "renaissance man" who "creates poetry for your spirit and body".
"People are too hard when something new changes the balance. Unfortunately, the fashion planet is not only a creative system, but also a political machinery," Zanotti said. "Kanye entered the entire environment with his head held high and his brave nature has to be respected."
What's interesting about the interview is that although Zanotti is full of praise for Kanye's courage and steely determination, his thoughts on Kanye's actual talents as a fashion designer remain unsaid. Still, he'd love Kanye to be a guest designer at Milan Fashion Week because "he could shake the system with his adrenaline." Wouldn’t he just.
