Girly Girls Rejoice: Alice + Olivia Goes Gatsby In The Garden

Last season, Alice + Olivia designer Stacey Bendet told us she was time-traveling, borrowing from different eras for her design inspiration. This season, it appears, the journey kept going. Imagining a multi-decade garden party—with flapper sequins, Mad Men-era blouses and boldly graphic bellbottoms, Bendet offered a super femme, totally fun collection filled with pieces that certainly will appeal to her red-carpet fan base.
The era that Bendet most focused on was the '60s, with mod-infused wide-leg pants and massive floral shift dresses. The hair was British explosion-meets-Lauren Conrad, with a giant coiled updo, creating a sassy but clean look. And the nails! A+O always comes correct with gorgeous tips, but we love the warm brights (and the lucky ladies who had black-and-white stripes) for the manis. The color palette was crisp and classic—kelly green, tangerine orange, and plenty of white.
Though A+O has a reputation for creating a whole collection of stand-out pieces, the all-sequined bodycon dress and a long, beige Grecian gown will certainly be seen on the label's horde of celebrity followers. As for the rest of us? The fishtailed minimal black dress would be just perfect—and demonstrates how well Bendet gets what ladies like to wear.
