Georgia May Jagger Keeps It In The Family

No one could accuse Georgia May Jagger of coasting. The stunning 22-year-old, the daughter of Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall, could have just breezed through life banking on her famous name. Instead, she's one of the hardest working models in the biz, strutting her stuff for designers from Karl Lagerfeld to Tommy Hilfiger, and lending her striking visage as a spokesperson to brands like Rimmel and Sunglass Hut.
Her latest venture is one that holds a particularly special place in her heart: following in mom Jerry's iconic footsteps as the face of Thierry Mugler Angel. When Angel debuted in the early '90s, the designer asked Hall, his dear friend and muse, to model for the ads. The resulting visuals feature Hall in a second-skin, sequined Mugler creation, lounging in the sand.
The ads represent a homecoming of sorts for Jagger, who says she has distinct memories of Angel from her childhood. Clarins, which owns the Mugler fragrance business, was thrilled to have Jagger on board. "As a group, we love authenticity," says Clarins Group chairman Christian Courtin-Clarins. "One of the most successful advertisements we had was with Jerry Hall. To take a young girl, the new generation of Jerry Hall — it's like Mugler reborn. The authenticity of the story was so beautiful, and it was nearly a dream that she was available. And, not only available, but that she is also a very nice woman, easy to work with, very involved, and she has love for the brand."
We sat down with the model in the midst of Paris Fashion Week — just before she took to the stage to walk the Mugler spring '15 show, the first under new artistic director David Koma — to talk about the experience; the intricate art of picking out pink, lamé pantsuits for her mom; and why she doesn't want to be anyone's clothes hanger.
