DIY Dry Shampoo That’s Perfect For Brunettes

We don't know about you, but we were thrilled to see humble dry shampoo enter the mainstream this year as one of the most important styling products in every girl's kit. Thank you, matte-hair trend. To say that hair powders changed our lives wouldn't be an understatement — the right one has literally given us hours of our lives back every week (and saved our strands from needless overwashing and styling).
The only problem? Many untinted dry shampoos do leave a faint grayish hue behind — which may not be a huge issue for the lighter-haired among us, but can be vaguely disastrous for brunette beauties. While brands such as Bumble and bumble do make tinted options, one editor at xoVain offered up the genius solution of making your own tinted dry shampoo using only two ingredients: arrowroot and cocoa powder.

The author simply blends two parts arrowroot powder with one part cocoa powder and stores it in an old mineral makeup jar for portability. (She admits that super-dark-haired girls might want to go heavier on the cocoa.) A light dusting on her roots, and she can go for days without washing and re-styling. We say, genius.
Another awesome factoid: The author claims that a redheaded friend of hers has used cinnamon instead of cocoa to match her auburn locks. Fluffy, volumized hair that smells like baked goods? We think these ladies are on to something. (xoVain)
