SJP, Diane Kruger, And The Gossip Girl Crew Shine At Chanel’s Soho Store Opening

Chanel had a lot to celebrate last night. Not only was it the unveiling of their completely re-vamped SoHo store but Karl himself was in town and hosted what quite possibly may be the hottest bash of Fashion Week (and it was only Thursday!). It all began with a party at the new store—with a 150 feet wide, 10 feet high LED canvas wrapped around the building featuring an animated series of Karl's photos from around the neighborhood, Chanel has never shown brighter. Did we mention the handbag "bar" with purses exclusive to the shop, or a custom created fragrance area, and the crazy pieces of art (look for Gregor Hildebrandt's "Record Wall")? But, not to be outdone by his own opening, the Kaiser then moved to rager to the basement of 82 Mercer, where the House of Chanel had its own little pop-up nightclub! All toasting a visit from Mr. Lagerfeld, the likes of Sarah Jessica Parker, Grace Coddington, Crystal Renn and Diane Kruger shimmied and swayed with Claire Danes, Rachel Bilson, Alexa Chung, and the Gossip Girl crew—Chase, Leighton, and Blake to be exact. And who better to entertain guests than Baptiste Giabiconi, who apparently DJs when he's not modeling—we love those slashies! In true Chanel-adence, all guests went home with the perfect little party favor: a signature silk scarf adorned with polar bears from the fall '10 collection. How chill!
