Which Facials Actually Work? This Writer Spent 2 Months Finding Out

There's nothing quite like a bad facial. Whether the treatment doesn't jibe with your skin or the aesthetician is less than pleasant, a terrible treatment can be powerful enough to make you swear them off forever. However, beauty writer Annie Tomlin says that doesn't need to be the case. In an xoJane post to follow up an essay she penned about a dreadful facial, Tomlin set about proving that one bad experience doesn't mean all of them suck.
Over a two-month period, she tried out a variety of different luxury facials around New York City. (We know, we're jealous, too.) Her post breaks down which type of treatment is best for which skin concern — for example, if you want firmer skin or if you're looking to unclog your pores. And, she even details how to get those results without hitting the spa, which is helpful if you're simply not in NYC or just don't feel like dropping a huge chunk of change right now.
