Ch-ch-changes are on the way. With 2015 around the bend, you’re probably counting down the days to start on that whole "new year, new you" thing. And, there’s no doubt a new job can shake things up in a major way. (Who needs a gym membership, anyway?)
Well, S.F. is a prime hunting ground for a new career, thanks to loads of tech companies — with their infamous perks — saturating the market. It’s no surprise folks are flocking here to get a piece of the pie. But, one caveat about the tech arena? The male-dominated stats are still shocking, with women constituting only 26% of the computing workforce.
That disparity prompted Career Contessa to look into the best S.F. companies for women to work for. It sized up the perks, programs focused on women in tech, and hiring and recruiting figures, and revealed the top five companies in the city. We weren’t really surprised to find familiar names like Pinterest, Dropbox, and Airbnb (pictured) on the list, but after reading about these companies and their efforts to attract female employees, we can see why folks sing their praises.
For instance, Pinterest’s tech lead Tracy Chou recruited a 32% female engineering intern class (granted, it's not 50-50, but it's certainly progress). Airbnb not only gives its employees a $2,000 credit to travel the world (where can we apply?), but also hosts frequent women-in-engineering events to keep the equality conversation on the agenda. Take a look at the full list here — and polish up those résumés.
