Balmain’s Facebook Page Goes All The Way Back To 1945

Though we can hardly imagine a time before it, Facebook's history only goes back to 2004. But with the new timeline feature, you can extend your history way back to the day of your birth… and in the case for Balmain, that's December 1945, the day that Pierre Balmain founded the House of Balmain, and first started serving frou-frou clients like The Duchess of Windsor. Since then, the brand's lurched a few different directions, the latest with fresh-faced and insanely talented Olivier Rousteing taking the helm, and turning out one of our favorite fall collections of the past season.
Their new Facebook is a pretty great example of how luxury brands can use social media (their new Twitter account only has one tweet so far that links to the Facebook page), and contains a whole slew of historic content that gives Balmain depth and dimension. For instance, did you know Oscar de la Renta was the creative director in 1992? Or that Pierre Balmain was nominated for a Tony Award? Check out their Facebook page here, make sure you watch the adorable video of Olivier introducing their new initiatives.
