Viewers Complain About “Rigged” Teen Choice Awards

One unique aspect of the Teen Choice Awards is that fans themselves vote for the winners. Or at least that's what they claim. But during the 2016 ceremony, viewers were speculating that the voting process was rigged. According to the Teen Choice Awards website, the winners are determined by fans' votes on the website, the Fox app, and Twitter. But some were skeptical that Selena Gomez, who accepted the award for Choice Female Artist remotely, actually beat Ariana Grande, Beyoncé, Demi Lovato, Rihanna, and Taylor Swift. People have been suspicious of Gomez's awards for a while, actually.
Others had trouble believing teens voted Pretty Little Liars Best TV Drama award seven years in a row.

Some were generally not buying that this truly is the fair process it makes itself out to be.
Others were just sad that their dreams of a true democracy have been crushed.
But others didn't even care as long as Biebs got the recognition he deserved.
