If you thought you'd never get the song from that Swiffer commercial out of your head, fret no longer: Hulu HQ has some amazing news for binge-watchers everywhere. According to an announcement made earlier today, the streaming service will begin offering a commercial-free option to users. Finally! Thankfully, this isn't a watered-down compromise like Hulu Plus, where you supposedly have to watch fewer, targeted ads. This is the real thing. For an extra four dollars a month ($12 as opposed to $8, the current fee for Plus), you can watch a Seinfeld marathon without a single interruption. Hulu does not yet have permission to stream every show without ads, but even the holdouts will still play straight through — just with commercials at the beginning and end of each episode. Some of the shows within this group — Grey's Anatomy, Scandal, How To Get Away With Murder — can probably afford to make their ferocious fan bases wait that extra 30 seconds or so, anyway. According to Mike Hopkins, Hulu's CEO, this development is in response to customer feedback. "Many of our customers have asked us for a commercial-free option," Hopkins says in the blog post. "Providing more choice for consumers is fundamental to the Hulu experience...[and] our customers can now choose to watch with or without commercials." Show us someone who'd prefer to watch TV online with commercials, and we'll show you someone with too much time on their hands. As far as we're concerned, there is no time to waste when it comes to catching up on Master Chef.
